Pharmacy Technician, Managed Care (Tampa)
Overview
You will pick, label, and scan medications for a large managed care company, preparing finished prescriptions for pharmacist verification at a facility processing high volumes daily. You will work the night shift (6:00PM-2:00AM) alongside a team of technicians and pharmacists, ensuring accuracy in every order. This contract-to-hire role offers a clear path to permanent employment with a stable healthcare employer. You will own medication handling from shelf to final scan, where precision and HIPAA compliance matter most.
What You'll Do6
- 1Fill daily drug orders accurately under pharmacist supervision, scanning each product with barcode scanners
- 2Pull medications from shelves and prepack racks, applying labels to blister cards for verification
- 3Process returned drugs and recycle or dispose of them per procedure, using pharmacy management software
- 4Prepack frequently ordered medications during low volume hours, labeling and storing them correctly
- 5Alert the pharmacist on duty when a product fails to scan properly, preventing dispensing errors
- 6Maintain your workstation, replenish stock supplies, and follow HIPAA regulations at all times
Requirements8
- 1High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 2Active Pharmacy Technician License in Florida
- 31+ years of pharmacy technician experience in a retail or clinical setting
- 4Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently
- 5Comfort standing or sitting for 7-10 hours per shift, with frequent bending and stooping
- 6Finger dexterity for operating scanners, label printers, and other office equipment
- 7Vision adequate for reading fine print and distinguishing color-coded medications
- 8Capacity to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
