Pet Groomer, Dog & Cat Styling (SF)
Overview
As a Pet Groomer at Luxe Paw Grooming, you'll own the full grooming cycle for dogs and cats, handling up to 10-15 pets daily across all breeds. You'll report to the salon lead and collaborate with a close-knit team of groomers and bathers. This role stands apart with weekend availability, consistent schedules, and direct client interaction. You'll master sanitization protocols, animal restraint, and coat assessment while delivering top-tier care.
What You'll Do8
- 1Perform full grooming cycles: bathing, brushing, trimming, and nail clipping for dogs and cats, adapting to each breed's coat type
- 2Assess coat and skin conditions to select appropriate grooming techniques and products, preventing irritation
- 3Sanitize all grooming tools and workstations after every appointment, following OSHA-level cleanliness standards
- 4Communicate grooming options and aftercare instructions to pet owners, offering tailored recommendations
- 5Handle pets using safe restraint methods, ensuring low-stress handling and preventing injury
- 6Monitor vital signs and behavior during sessions, flagging abnormalities to owners or management
- 7Maintain a tidy salon, restocking shampoos, conditioners, and equipment to minimize downtime
- 8Assist with heavy lifting of large breeds (up to 75 lbs) when moving to dryers or tubs
Requirements7
- 11+ years of professional grooming experience, including breed-specific cuts (e.g., Poodle, Schnauzer, Terrier)
- 2Certification in Pet CPR and First Aid from an accredited program
- 3Proven skills in scissoring, clipper work, and nail grinding for all coat types
- 4Knowledge of animal behavior cues and restraint techniques for anxious or aggressive pets
- 5Physical stamina for standing long shifts and lifting 50+ lbs repeatedly
- 6Weekend availability (Friday through Sunday) with open-ended flexibility
- 7Strong interpersonal skills for client education and team collaboration
