Patient Care Technician PCT at Fresenius Medical Care
Overview
Own patient care tasks within the dialysis team at scale, under nurse supervision. Work on hemodialysis machine setup and operation, maintain safety and cleanliness, and drive CQI activities. Be part of a multi-disciplinary team focused on patient satisfaction and quality goals.
What You'll Do11
- 1Build and perform vascular access cannulation and heparin administration as delegated
- 2Introduce dialysis treatment and monitor patient response to therapy ensuring accurate vital signs and weights
- 3Document Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet and related progress notes with initial identification
- 4Report significant changes to registered nurse or supervisor and intervene for unusual patient status
- 5Prepare patient charts, labs, and specimens and ensure proper infection control practices
- 6Quality improvement participation and data entry into clinical systems
- 7Coordinate with other disciplines to optimize patient experience in transitional care unit
- 8Educate patients on adequacy measures and disease process using online monitoring tools
- 9Maintain machine safety alarms and ultrafiltration goals per prescription
- 10Prepare pretreatment dialysis machine alarm testing and SDS system
- 11Manage supplies and inventory to prevent wastage
Requirements5
- 1High School diploma or GED
- 2CMS state or national certification within required state or CMS timeline
- 3CPR certification upon completion of dialysis training program
- 4Must meet state licensure, education, and training requirements
- 5Previous patient care experience in hospital or related facility preferred
