Overview

Retina Center of Texas seeks a Patient Advocate Specialist for its Billing Department. This onsite role supports patients and maintains financial health in a fast-paced medical office environment.

What You'll Do11

  • 1Answer incoming calls to the Billing Department and assist patients with billing questions
  • 2Provide professional and compassionate customer service while helping patients understand their financial responsibility
  • 3Review patient accounts and accurately communicate outstanding balances and account activity
  • 4Post patient payments accurately and timely to the appropriate patient accounts
  • 5Research, prepare, and process patient refunds in accordance with established procedures
  • 6Generate and send patient statements according to the practice's billing schedule
  • 7Follow up on outstanding patient balances and assist patients with resolving their accounts
  • 8Maintain accurate documentation of patient communications, payments, refunds, and account activity
  • 9Identify account discrepancies and work with the Billing/Revenue Cycle team to resolve issues
  • 10Monitor and maintain patient balance performance metrics including outstanding balances collections and other assigned KPIs
  • 11Assist management with reports related to patient accounts receivable and collection performance

Requirements10

  • 1High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 2Additional education or training in healthcare billing or business administration is a plus
  • 3Previous experience in medical billing patient accounts or revenue cycle management preferred
  • 4Experience with payment posting patient statements refunds and account reconciliation
  • 5Strong customer service and telephone communication skills
  • 6Comfortable discussing balances and financial responsibilities with patients in a respectful and professional manner
  • 7Ability to organize and prioritize multiple responsibilities
  • 8Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel Outlook and other office applications
  • 9Experience working with an EHR or Practice Management System preferred
  • 10Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of the Billing team
