Part Time Waiter/Waitress
Overview
Take food and beverage orders and deliver items to guests in a high-volume dining room at Harvard Business School. You will own guest experiences from greeting to payment, maintaining sanitation standards and collaborating with back-of-house staff. This part-time role runs Sunday-Thursday, 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM, with a fixed rate of $26.77/hour. What You'll Do10
- 1Greet guests promptly and warmly, taking food and beverage orders efficiently using established steps of service.
- 2Deliver food promptly and professionally, maintaining safe food handling and sanitation standards.
- 3Follow up with guests to assist with additional needs or requests during their meal.
- 4Demonstrate complete knowledge of menu items, ingredients, and appropriate food and drink pairings.
- 5Accommodate reasonable guest requests, noting preferences, and demonstrate knowledge of specialized diets and allergens as needed.
- 6Communicate directly with back-of-house staff to ensure accurate order delivery and special request accommodations.
- 7Collect tickets and follow proper cash-handling procedures, ensuring accurate transactions.
- 8Keep the dining room set up properly before and after service, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards.
- 9Operate equipment including fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea/soda machines, soup wells, and coffee machines.
- 10Address guest complaints or issues promptly, relaying relevant information to supervisors and maintaining confidentiality of personal or medical information.
Requirements10
- 1Previous front-of-house, catering, or serving experience required.
- 2Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
- 3Strong communication skills and ability to work well with diverse teams.
- 4Flexibility to work Sunday through Thursday, 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM.
- 5Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- 6Ability to use medium weight cut gloves when handling knives or cleaning equipment.
- 7Use of oven mitts or fryer gloves when handling hot items.
- 8Wear slip-resistant shoes and practice proper lifting techniques.
- 9Must be at least 18 years old and pass any required background checks.
- 10Ability to read menus and communicate effectively in English.
