Part Time Early Literacy Tutor, Reading Intervention
Overview
As an Early Literacy Interventionist, you'll deliver 1:1 reading support to kindergarten and first-grade students in Washington, DC, using Chapter One's structured model. You'll work 3-5 hours per day, Monday through Friday, during morning and early afternoon shifts. You'll join a dedicated team of educators and literacy coaches, with no prior teaching experience required. This role stands out because you'll build lasting relationships with students and directly impact their reading proficiency by the end of grade one.
What You'll Do8
- 1Monitor student progress throughout the year using Chapter One's assessment tools.
- 2Deliver personalized 1:1 instruction based on Chapter One's structured literacy model.
- 3Document each tutoring session in Chapter One's platform.
- 4Assign new practice activities during each session to challenge students.
- 5Celebrate student success and reinforce goal achievement.
- 6Communicate and collaborate with managers, classroom instructors, literacy coaches, and administrators.
- 7Provide basic technology support for students using handheld devices for independent practice.
- 8Analyze student performance data to adjust instructional delivery and accelerate learning.
Requirements9
- 1Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year institution.
- 2Experience using computer software for word processing, email, internet searches, and data organization.
- 3Proficiency with Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail, or similar programs.
- 4Strong interpersonal, oral presentation, and writing skills.
- 5Professional, positive, and approachable attitude.
- 6Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- 7Reliable transportation and ability to work onsite Monday-Friday with flexible hours.
- 8Intermediate computer and software skills.
- 9Must pass Chapter One and District required background checks.
