Park Aide Seasonal Job at Malibu Creek State Park
Overview
Run daily visitor center operations at Malibu Creek State Park, handling fees, registrations, and public inquiries. Work under the District Administrative Chief with a team of seasonal aides. This role includes outdoor duties in all weather, with up to 1500 hours per year. A valid California Driver's License and background check are required.
What You'll Do8
- 1Open and close the visitor center and kiosk, ensuring the area is clean and free of debris.
- 2Collect fees, make change, and complete end-of-day cash register accounting, including bank drops.
- 3Register campers, track reservations, and maintain accurate campground occupancy records.
- 4Sell DPR passes, firewood, and park maps to visitors.
- 5Operate a vehicle to perform daily camp checks and respond to visitor needs.
- 6Answer questions on park rules, regulations, and facilities, and give directions to the public.
- 7Promote positive relationships with park volunteers and the public.
- 8Report all problems to appropriate staff and perform litter pickup, light maintenance, and housekeeping.
Requirements7
- 1Possess a valid California Driver's License with a safe driving record (no convictions in past 2 years for moving violations).
- 2Pass a background investigation using Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
- 3Ability to lift supply boxes weighing 10-25 pounds and perform physical tasks like bending, stooping, and reaching.
- 4Willingness to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions and around wild animals.
- 5Willingness to work weekends, nights, and holidays as needed.
- 6Comfort with frequent sitting, telephone use, and keyboard operation in an office/kiosk setting.
- 7Must be able to work up to 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months.
