Overview
NineStar Connect seeks a dedicated Outside Plant Technician to lead fiber-optic network deployment and maintenance. This Bargaining Unit position includes an apprenticeship program and focuses on building and repairing OSP/ISP fiber-optic and STP cables. The role ensures optimal network performance through skilled technical execution.
What You'll Do11
- 1Install splice and terminate fiber-optic cables according to engineering specifications
- 2Repair damaged network components to maintain service reliability
- 3Maintain aerial and underground infrastructure using safe work practices
- 4Collaborate with teams to deploy equipment at customer sites
- 5Participate in mandatory on-call rotations for network uptime
- 6Read and interpret engineering schematics and diagrams
- 7Follow technical instructions and make independent decisions
- 8Operate vehicles and construction equipment safely
- 9Lift heavy loads and perform physically demanding tasks
- 10Obtain required CDL certification with air brake endorsement
- 11Apply BICSI optical fiber or copper certifications when applicable
Requirements10
- 1High school diploma or equivalent with 1-3 years in network construction operations or installation
- 2Ability to lift 60 pounds
- 3Class A CDL with air brake endorsement and clean driving record
- 4Knowledge of fiber-optic and STP cable structures and best practices
- 5Understanding of OSP/ISP network architecture and topology
- 6Experience with vehicle operation and construction equipment
- 7Proficiency in reading engineering schematics and diagrams
- 8Strong communication skills for coworker and client interactions
- 9Professionalism and ability to work independently
- 10Commitment to safety standards and regulatory compliance
