Overview
Mercor is teaming up with a leading AI lab to make frontier models better at generating real-world business documents. We're seeking detail-oriented office-suite experts to evaluate AI-produced files in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, comparing two candidate outputs and choosing the stronger one. In this fully remote, hourly role, you'll use your own Microsoft Office desktop installation to inspect and grade spreadsheet, document, and presentation artifacts. Your judgment will directly influence how AI handles the polished deliverables that keep companies running.
What You'll Do5
- 1Download and carefully inspect office files in Excel (.xlsx), Word (.docx), and PowerPoint (.pptx) formats on your own machine.
- 2Compare two AI-generated responses side by side and determine which one better satisfies the original prompt.
- 3Assess both the content and the visual rendering of each file, including layout, formatting, formulas, and overall structure.
- 4Score AI outputs against a structured rubric and provide clear written feedback that helps the research team refine model behavior.
- 5Attend onboarding sessions and calibration calls to align your evaluation standards with the team.
Requirements6
- 1At least 3 years of professional experience producing or reviewing office documents, such as in finance, consulting, operations, accounting, or administrative support roles.
- 2Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (financial modeling, pivot tables, complex formulas, charts, conditional formatting), Word (long-form drafting, formatting, templates, track changes), and PowerPoint (slide design, data visualization, brand-consistent decks).
- 3Must own and use the full Microsoft Office desktop suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) — Google Workspace, LibreOffice, and other office suites are not acceptable for this role.
- 4Ability to independently open, navigate, and visually examine downloaded files on your own computer.
- 5A sharp eye for formatting and presentation details, plus excellent written communication and attention to detail.
- 6Bonus: cross-format expertise, experience building templates or style guides, or a background in finance/consulting/executive support where document quality is critical.
