Occupational Therapist - Hand Therapy & Orthopedics
Overview
As an Occupational Therapist at Precision Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, you will own patient evaluations and treatment plans across 18 clinics in the DMV area. You will collaborate with board-certified orthopedic surgeons and a dedicated rehab team to deliver personalized care. Your work directly impacts patients' recovery, from splinting to adaptive equipment. This role offers full-time or part-time hours in Laurel, Maryland, with immediate patient caseloads and opportunities for BCBA or CHT advancement.
What You'll Do9
- 1Perform diagnostic evaluations for assigned patients and design individualized treatment plans using Therapeutic Exercise and Activity Analysis.
- 2Fabricate custom splints and adaptive equipment per physician prescriptions, ensuring proper fit and function.
- 3Administer sensor-motor integration and visual perceptual-motor remediation programs to support neurological recovery.
- 4Instruct patients in energy conservation, joint protection, and safety techniques for sensory loss to prevent injury.
- 5Train patients in the use of upper-extremity prosthetic devices to restore daily routines.
- 6Document initial evaluations, progress notes, and discharges within 48 hours using EHR systems.
- 7Coordinate with schools, nursing homes, and visiting nurse associations for environmental design and positioning consultations.
- 8Design home programs and educate families on transfer techniques and personal care to reduce caregiver strain.
- 9Schedule follow-up appointments and manage patient flow to optimize clinic efficiency.
Requirements8
- 1Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy from an ACOTE accredited school.
- 2Current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association.
- 3Active license to practice occupational therapy in the state of Maryland.
- 41+ year of clinical experience in hand therapy or orthopedics preferred.
- 5Strong communication skills for patient education and team collaboration.
- 6Proficiency with EHR software and documentation standards.
- 7Ability to design and fabricate splints and adaptive equipment.
- 8Commitment to CPC or CHT certification within 2 years.
Salary Insight
$85 - $120k per year
