Overview

You will own patient care as an Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) at The Lakes Home Care in Fort Lauderdale, covering outpatient and home health settings. You will assess, plan, and deliver therapy that restores daily living skills. You will join a collaborative team of healthcare professionals, reporting to supervising therapists. What You'll Do7

  • 1Conduct patient assessments to identify individual needs and functional goals, documenting findings in EMR systems.
  • 2Develop personalized treatment plans that improve patients' abilities to perform ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) like dressing, bathing, and cooking.
  • 3Deliver therapeutic exercises and activities that enhance motor skills, coordination, and balance, using tools like TheraBand and parallel bars.
  • 4Educate patients and families on adaptive techniques and equipment, including grab bars, reachers, and wheelchairs, to maximize independence.
  • 5Collaborate with occupational therapists, nurses, and physicians to coordinate comprehensive care across home health and acute care settings.
  • 6Track patient progress and adjust treatment protocols based on response, ensuring measurable improvement within the first 90 days.
  • 7Manage a caseload of 5-7 patients per day with travel between homes, using reliable transportation and scheduling software.

Requirements8

  • 12+ years of experience as an Occupational Therapist Assistant in outpatient or home health settings.
  • 2Active OTA license in Florida and CPR certification.
  • 3Knowledge of anatomy and physiology to assess motor function and plan interventions.
  • 4Familiarity with medical terminology and EMR documentation (e.g., Kinnser, Homecare Homebase).
  • 5Expertise in Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) assessment and training.
  • 6Proficiency in patient care techniques, including therapeutic exercise and transfer training.
  • 7Experience in occupational health, clinic, home health, or acute care environments.
  • 8Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle for travel between patient homes.
