Overview
Full‑time evening role supporting nursing staff on the Long‑Term Spinal Cord Injury Unit at the Boston VA campus. Responsibilities include vital sign recording ADL assistance and emergency response. Promotion potential exists without further competition. Selected applicants may serve a 1‑2‑year trial period.
What You'll Do9
- 1Record and report vital signs accurately
- 2Assist with total ADL care and medication management
- 3Perform hoyer lifts and wheelchair transfers
- 4Maintain safe environments and complete EKGs
- 5Obtain and label specimens for testing
- 6Clean and disinfect rooms and equipment
- 7Initiate emergency actions for cardiac or respiratory arrest
- 8Document ADL care and maintain records
- 9Perform point‑of‑care testing and specimen preparation
Requirements8
- 1United States citizenship required
- 2Proficiency in spoken and written English
- 3Six months general experience or one year education plus relevant coursework
- 4Ability to recognize and react to emergent patient situations
- 5Physical stamina for walking standing and lifting
- 6Completion of an intensive occupation‑related training course
- 7Basic knowledge of federal health benefits and security clearance requirements
- 8Commitment to the Excepted Service and federal employment standards
