NICU Nurse, Level II/III (Boston)
Overview

What You'll Do8
- 1Own the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for a designated patient assignment, prioritizing across varying acuity levels.
- 2Document patient care clearly and completely, adhering to nursing standards and maintaining continuity through concise verbal and written communication.
- 3Build comprehensive care and discharge plans, integrating data from initial assessments, interdisciplinary input, and community resources.
- 4Administer medications and perform nursing procedures safely, while using equipment properly and following infection control protocols.
- 5Collaborate with other disciplines to develop and evaluate unit-specific standards of care, upholding the A.N.A. code of ethics.
- 6Drive quality improvement by participating in unit-based and organizational programs, and by contributing to nursing and medical research efforts.
- 7Serve as a role model, orienting new staff and students, and providing input into clinical evaluations and unit goals.
- 8Manage time and materials efficiently, accurately assessing patient acuity to support staffing and transfer decisions within budget.
Requirements5
- 1Graduate of an approved nursing school with current registration in Massachusetts.
- 2Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required for newly licensed nurses.
- 3Current Level II or III NICU experience required.
- 4Membership in professional organizations recommended and certification in a specialty area encouraged.
- 5Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development for adult, geriatric, and neonatal patients.
