Nature Preschool Teacher at Every Child Outdoors (ECO) in Boston leads a nature-based classroom for children ages two to five, guiding daily outdoor exploration and play in all weather. You will co-create curriculum from children's curiosity, foster ecological awareness, and support social-emotional growth through reflective practice. What You'll Do10
- 1Build a welcoming, safe, joyful learning environment for children ages two to five
- 2Protect time for sustained, child-directed outdoor play and discovery
- 3Co-create a nature-based curriculum with children, listening to their questions and theories
- 4Guide children in building a relationship with the land, fostering ecological awareness
- 5Support children in resolving conflict through dialogue and reflection, treating behavior as communication
- 6Document children's learning through observations, photos, and notes to share with families
- 7Lead parent-teacher conferences twice per year and welcome new families
- 8Supervise assistant teachers, interns, and volunteers
- 9Maintain health, safety, and licensing supplies, and conduct fire drills
- 10Attend staff meetings, professional development, and special events, and host visiting educators
Requirements7
- 1Experience working with young children in nature-based, forest school, Reggio Emilia, Montessori, Waldorf, or child-centered settings
- 2Comfort working outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions
- 3Experience working with children with and without disabilities
- 4Ability to work collaboratively and engage in reflective practice
- 5Physical ability for outdoor education, including hiking and carrying supplies
- 6Willingness to obtain EEC Family Child Care teaching credential
- 7Spanish language skills preferred
