Nature Play Teacher, Early Childhood Outdoor Education
Overview
You will own the daily rhythm of our 3 1/2-5 year-old classroom, planning and facilitating nature-infused activities alongside our experienced lead teacher. You will work within a play-based and arts-forward philosophy, collaborating with a tight-knit team of educators. This role offers the chance to lead outdoor play in all seasons, mentor social growth, and grow into program leadership. You will spend most of your day outside, rain or shine, shaping resilient, curious learners.
What You'll Do8
- 1Plan and co-lead weekly activities, story-time, seasonal circle-time, and songs with fellow teachers.
- 2Supervise children indoors and outdoors, modeling kindness and guiding social problem-solving.
- 3Handle diapering, toileting, and handwashing with proper safety and hygiene practices.
- 4Prepare and serve meals, and maintain cleanliness in kitchen, classrooms, and common spaces.
- 5Observe and record each child's development, tracking progress and behavioral patterns.
- 6Build trust with parents through daily updates and scheduled conferences on their child's journey.
- 7Attend monthly evening meetings, seasonal festivals, and parent-teacher conferences.
- 8Complete yearly professional development to stay current in early childhood education.
Requirements5
- 13+ years working with children ages 2-5 years in a group setting.
- 2Pass DCFS licensing: background check, health exam, and TB test.
- 3Meet DCFS Lead Teacher qualifications: 18+ years, high school diploma, and Early Childhood college credits.
- 4Hands-on experience or strong interest in Waldorf and nature play teaching methods.
- 5Comfort leading outdoor activities in all weather, with enthusiasm for year-round exploration.
