Overview
Mercor is hiring experienced music professionals to evaluate AI-generated music as part of a partnership with a leading AI research lab. You'll listen to tracks across many genres and rate them against structured quality criteria, working in both French and English. This is a remote, part-time, task-based role with flexible hours, where you'll help shape how generative AI models are trained and refined.
What You'll Do4
- 1Compare AI-generated music samples head-to-head, scoring musicality, creativity, prompt adherence, vocal quality, and overall production and mix quality.
- 2Annotate each song using a detailed taxonomy, classifying genre, sub-genre, song structure, and vocal/instrumental characteristics.
- 3Evaluate generated lyrics and vocal performances by benchmarking them against reference material.
- 4Assess the quality of musical training data used for AI models.
Requirements5
- 1Native or near-native proficiency in French, plus the ability to follow detailed written instructions in English.
- 2Production track: 3+ years of professional experience as a music producer, audio engineer, or sound mixer, with a solid grasp of audio-engineering vocabulary to describe mixes by ear.
- 3Music and language track: Deep knowledge of the French music scene, with professional or semi-professional experience as a songwriter, lyricist, performer, composer, or music journalist (studio production experience not required).
- 4Access to high-quality headphones or studio monitors suitable for careful listening.
- 5Bonus: formal training in music performance, theory, or composition, and experience writing, performing, or producing released music in French.

Salary Insight
