Middle School Math Teacher (SY 2026-27)
Overview
You will own math instruction for grades 6-8 at Hmong College Prep Academy, a Title I charter school serving at-risk students in Minneapolis. You will create a flexible classroom that fosters academic growth and personal development. You will implement Common Core standards and use PowerSchool and Schoology for records and parent communication. This role offers a starting salary of $45,000-$75,720+ and requires a current MN teaching license.
What You'll Do8
- 1Teach math and core subjects using differentiated methods to ensure mastery for grades 6-8.
- 2Use PowerSchool and Schoology to track attendance, grades, and assignments, and keep online resources current.
- 3Design lessons aligned to Minnesota Graduation and Common Core standards, adapting to student needs.
- 4Assess student performance with screening and progress monitoring data to adjust instruction and provide targeted feedback.
- 5Build a welcoming classroom culture that promotes respect and academic challenge.
- 6Communicate with families through calls, emails, conferences, and school events.
- 7Participate in professional development, implementing new learning and sharing student work.
- 8Supervise students during bus, breakfast, and lunch duties as scheduled.
Requirements10
- 1Current MN teaching license in secondary education for grades 6-12.
- 2BA or MA in Education or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 33+ years of teaching experience.
- 4Strong skills in classroom presentation and management.
- 5Knowledge of instructional technologies and multimedia tools.
- 6Preference for LETRS training or structured literacy experience.
- 7Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners.
- 8Strong interpersonal and communication skills with students, parents, and staff.
- 9Knowledge of child development and effective assessment practices.
- 10Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
