Math Teacher, Algebra & Pre-Calculus
Overview
You will own math instruction for high school students at Chicago Tech Academy, blending traditional methods with project-based learning. You'll guide Algebra I and Pre-Calculus classes, using Google Classroom and Desmos to build interactive lessons. You'll join a collaborative team of educators and report to the Head of School. This role stands out by connecting math to real-world tech applications and preparing students for college and careers.
What You'll Do8
- 1Build and deliver daily lessons for Algebra I and Pre-Calculus that tie math concepts to tech-industry examples.
- 2Design project-based learning units where students apply math to solve real-world problems.
- 3Collect and analyze student performance data to adjust instruction and report progress to parents.
- 4Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum across grade levels and integrate Google Suite tools.
- 5Implement restorative practices like community circles to build a positive classroom culture.
- 6Serve as an Advisor to a cohort of students, supporting their academic and personal growth over four years.
- 7Supervise students during non-instructional times like lunch, hallways, and field trips.
- 8Participate in weekly professional development and team meetings to improve teaching practice.
Requirements7
- 1Bachelor's degree in Math Education or a related field.
- 2Valid state substitute or teaching certification.
- 3Proven experience as a leader of learning or youth service provider.
- 4Deep knowledge of math curriculum and teaching methods, especially Algebra I and Pre-Calculus.
- 5Ability to engage and motivate students with diverse learning needs.
- 6Outstanding communication and classroom management skills.
- 7Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and learning management systems.
