What You'll Do9

  • 1Perform diagnostic vascular and general ultrasound exams independently, including carotids, arterial/venous studies, DVT, graft/stent evaluations, and vein mapping using PACS.
  • 2Coordinate patient examinations to ensure high-quality imaging and efficient workflow within the ultrasound team.
  • 3Execute assignments promptly and communicate Radiology Service goals to the team.
  • 4Provide preliminary impressions by correlating patient history with exam findings, and notify radiologists of critical results.
  • 5Train and instruct student technologists on procedures, problem-solving, and work practices.
  • 6Distribute and balance workloads among technologists based on priority and specialization.
  • 7Monitor work status and review completed exams for quality and compliance.
  • 8Optimize scheduling of ultrasound suites, accommodating emergency cases and staffing needs.
  • 9Participate in quality improvement programs, maintaining compliance with JCAHO, OSHA, and VA standards.

Requirements7

  • 11+ year of experience performing vascular ultrasound at a level comparable to GS-8.
  • 2RVS certification from CCI or RVT from ARDMS is highly desirable.
  • 3BCLS and ACLS certifications are desirable.
  • 4Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • 5U.S. Citizenship required.
  • 6Pass a background/security investigation and drug test.
  • 7Comply with VA vaccination requirements, including annual influenza vaccination.
