Overview
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern at RTX, you will own mechanical design tasks for radar and missile systems, tackling complex engineering challenges from day one. You will collaborate with senior engineers on hardware design, technical documentation, and CAD modeling using CREO. This onsite role in Fullerton, CA offers hands-on exposure to defense product development, with mentorship from industry leaders. You will apply engineering fundamentals to real projects that impact national security, supporting production and manufacturing.
What You'll Do7
- 1Design mechanical components for radar systems using CREO and other CAD software, producing detailed 3D models and 2D drawings.
- 2Own the creation and update of technical documentation packages, ensuring accurate specifications and compliance with defense standards.
- 3Collaborate with hardware engineering teams to validate designs, participating in design reviews and providing technical input.
- 4Conduct technical research on materials, manufacturing methods, and engineering processes to inform design decisions.
- 5Support manufacturing and production by addressing design issues, improving manufacturability, and assisting with prototype builds.
- 6Apply Raytheon hardware design processes and tools to ensure quality and consistency across projects.
- 7Debug and refine existing designs based on testing feedback and stakeholder requirements.
Requirements5
- 1Must be pursuing a Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Mechanical or related STEM major, actively enrolled through the internship.
- 2Experience with CREO and CAD software (demonstrated through coursework, projects, or on-the-job experience).
- 3U.S. citizenship required with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
- 4Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with engineering teams and stakeholders.
- 5Demonstrated effectiveness in working in teams, with results-oriented problem-solving skills.
