Overview

You will perform mammography and radiographic procedures under physician direction, delivering diagnostic images for patients from adolescent to geriatric. You will join a highly experienced team of mammographers at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, part of Mass General Brigham, with free parking and an easy commute. You will operate imaging equipment to produce quality images, instruct patients in breast self-examination, and follow Federal, State, and hospital policies. This role offers every other Saturday shift (7a-1p) with high pay rate and great differentials, within a community hospital connected to a larger organization.

What You'll Do8

  • 1Perform mammography and radiographic procedures using ionizing radiation to produce diagnostic images of specified body parts.
  • 2Position patients accurately and ensure their safety and comfort during imaging, adapting to patient age and condition.
  • 3Instruct patients in breast self-examination (BSE) techniques as part of patient education.
  • 4Operate and maintain imaging equipment, ensuring proper function and compliance with FDA and Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA).
  • 5Review images for quality, consult with radiologists on technical adequacy, and retake as necessary.
  • 6Document patient history, procedure details, and images in the HIS/RIS system and maintain patient records.
  • 7Follow all Federal, State, local, and hospital policies to ensure radiation safety and patient confidentiality.
  • 8Collaborate with the clinical team to triage exams, manage patient flow, and support busy schedules.

Requirements5

  • 1CPR Certified and licensed by the MA Radiation Control Board
  • 2Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiology
  • 3ARRT (M) required; ACS Certified in BSE preferred
  • 4Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, families, and clinical staff
  • 5Knowledge of special needs and behaviors of adult and older adult patients preferred
