Maintenance Technician - 2nd Shift & Automation
Overview
You will own plant equipment uptime at a 33-acre Kansas City metal fabrication campus by troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. You will work the 2nd shift (5:15 PM - 5:15 AM) supporting production lines and robotic welding cells. Daily tasks include robot programming, RSW equipment repair, and PLC diagnostics using Fanuc and Allen-Bradley controllers. You will join a 24/7 maintenance team that values proactive reliability over reactive fixes. What You'll Do9
- 1Troubleshoot and repair production equipment across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, including Fanuc robots and RSW welders.
- 2Perform daily robot programming and weld touch-ups using FANUC teach pendants and Allen-Bradley PLCs.
- 3Diagnose and replace sealer units, welding power supplies, and I/O blocks on the plant floor.
- 4Maintain preventive maintenance schedules for equipment and facilities, updating records in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- 5Command Ethernet/DeviceNet networking to resolve communication faults between controllers and field devices.
- 6Inspect completed work against OSHA, NEC, and customer specifications, logging results for compliance.
- 7Coordinate with vendors and contractors on specialized repairs while supporting continuous improvement projects.
- 8Keep maintenance parts inventory stocked and organized, ensuring critical spares are on hand.
- 9Communicate shift handoff issues to incoming teams and escalate quality concerns to maintenance leadership.
Requirements10
- 15+ years of industrial maintenance experience with high school diploma or GED.
- 2Proven ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings.
- 3Hands-on PLC troubleshooting experience with Allen-Bradley and Fanuc controllers.
- 4Familiarity with RSW, GMAW, DAR, and projection welding processes.
- 5Experience with sensors, DeviceNet, and Ethernet networking protocols.
- 6Capable of lifting 40 lbs unassisted and working at heights or in confined spaces.
- 7Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and CMMS software.
- 8Willingness to obtain forklift and boom/scissor lift certifications.
- 9Flexibility to work rotating shifts, overtime, and weekends as production demands.
- 10Strong mechanical aptitude with hydraulics, pneumatics, and power transmission systems.
