Maintenance Mechanic Assistant, Tortilla Manufacturing
Overview
You will assist the Senior Mechanic in a tortilla production facility, keeping equipment running and supporting daily maintenance. You'll work side-by-side with a senior technician, learning hands-on mechanical skills while maintaining Teflon conveyor belts, bearings, and other components. This role offers a path to grow into a full maintenance position, with training on OSHA safety and lockout/tagout procedures.
What You'll Do10
- 1Lubricate chains, bearings, gears, rollers, and other moving parts to prevent wear.
- 2Remove and replace worn or damaged bearings and other mechanical components.
- 3Patch and repair Teflon conveyor belts to minimize downtime.
- 4Assist with repairs on tortilla production and packaging equipment.
- 5Adjust and align equipment as part of preventive maintenance.
- 6Troubleshoot mechanical issues under the direction of the Senior Mechanic.
- 7Gather tools and materials, and keep maintenance areas clean and organized.
- 8Conduct routine equipment inspections and report problems.
- 9Respond to breakdowns and support urgent repair needs.
- 10Follow food safety, GMP, PPE, and lockout/tagout protocols.
Requirements7
- 1Previous maintenance, mechanical, or manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
- 2Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
- 3Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools.
- 4Ability to follow instructions and work safely around machinery.
- 5Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic.
- 6Ability to work collaboratively with the Senior Mechanic and production team.
- 7Food manufacturing experience is a plus but not mandatory.
