Mainframe Developer COBOL CICS DB2
Overview
Mainframe Developer will own modernization of legacy COBOL and CICS systems for a Trenton, NJ state client. You'll work hybrid (2 days onsite), collaborating with a team of 5 engineers and business analysts. The role focuses on converting IDMS databases to DB2 and integrating FOCUS reporting. You'll debug production issues and deliver IBS OS/JCL batch jobs. Your expertise will shape migration strategy over a 10-month contract.
What You'll Do7
- 1Design and code COBOL programs for batch and online transactions in CICS environments.
- 2Debug and resolve defects in COBOL and CICS, ensuring data integrity in DB2 and IDMS.
- 3Convert IDMS databases to DB2, including schema redesign and data mapping.
- 4Build and maintain IBS OS/JCL batch jobs for file processing and job scheduling.
- 5Integrate FOCUS reports and ad-hoc queries against DB2 data.
- 6Coordinate with business analysts to translate requirements into technical designs.
- 7Perform unit, integration, and regression testing, coordinating with QA teams.
Requirements8
- 15+ years of hands-on COBOL coding, testing, and debugging.
- 25+ years of CICS development, including map and transaction management.
- 35+ years with IBM OS/JCL (MVS) and batch processing.
- 45+ years of overall IT and application development experience.
- 5Hands-on experience with DB2 SQL and stored procedures.
- 6Experience with IDMS to DB2 migration.
- 7Experience with Information Builders FOCUS reporting.
- 8Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical study.
