Mainframe Developer, COBOL & CICS
Overview
You will own design, development, and production support for critical mainframe applications, translating business needs into technical solutions. Your work directly impacts core systems processing high volumes of transactions daily. You will collaborate with business analysts and cross-functional teams in a hybrid setup, working onsite two days per week. This role stands out for its exposure to legacy-to-modern migrations, including IDMS to DB2 conversions and FOCUS reporting.
What You'll Do8
- 1Design and build new mainframe components using COBOL and CICS for transactional systems.
- 2Debug and resolve production issues in IBS OS/JCL environments, ensuring high availability.
- 3Translate business requirements into technical designs for batch processing and online transactions.
- 4Own end-to-end testing cycles, including unit, integration, and regression tests for new functionality.
- 5Drive data migration projects from IDMS to DB2, including validation and backfill.
- 6Write and maintain JCL scripts to automate batch jobs and monitor system performance.
- 7Collaborate with analysts to refine system requirements and deliver robust solutions.
- 8Document code changes and technical specifications for future maintenance.
Requirements7
- 15+ years of hands-on development with COBOL and CICS.
- 2Expertise in IBS OS/JCL for job control and batch processing.
- 3Strong experience with DB2 including SQL, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
- 4Proven track record migrating IDMS databases to DB2.
- 5Experience with Information Builders FOCUS for reporting and data extraction.
- 6Solid debugging and problem-solving skills in mainframe environments.
- 7Ability to work onsite in Philadelphia two days per week.
Salary Insight
