Mainframe Assembler Developer with HLASM & Sysplex Experience
Overview
Develop and maintain mission-critical mainframe applications in HLASM within a parallel sysplex environment. You will own production support and new feature development for a financial services client, collaborating with a team of mainframe engineers. This role stands out for its focus on connect:direct and CA7 scheduling, offering deep technical challenges and the flexibility of relocation to TX or NC.
What You'll Do8
- 1Design and code HLASM programs to support financial transaction processing and reporting.
- 2Debug and resolve production issues in JCL, TSO/ISPF, and VSAM environments.
- 3Modify and maintain batch jobs scheduled through CA7, ensuring timely execution and monitoring.
- 4Implement changes using ISPW and manage code deployments across test and production regions.
- 5Troubleshoot and fix Connect:Direct (NDM) file transfers and error recovery processes.
- 6Collaborate with teams to optimize batch windows and improve system reliability.
- 7Document and enforce change management procedures for mainframe applications.
- 8Provide on-call support for critical batch cycles and production incidents.
Requirements7
- 15+ years of experience in IBM mainframe development and production support, specifically with HLASM.
- 2Strong hands-on expertise in JCL, TSO/ISPF, and VSAM.
- 3Experience with CA7 job scheduling and batch processing systems.
- 4Hands-on experience with Connect:Direct (NDM) file transfer and error resolution.
- 5Proficiency with ISPW and change management tools.
- 6Experience in financial services domain and parallel sysplex environments is preferred.
- 7Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
