Lot Assistant, Auto Auction Operations
Overview
You will manage vehicle inventory across a 200-acre auto auction lot, ensuring every car is tagged, moved, and tracked from check-in to sale. You'll coordinate with shop and operations teams to keep the flow moving, using electronic scanning devices to log movements and update records in real time. This role anchors the auction's daily rhythm, with 50+ locations and hundreds of thousands of vehicles in play. It's a hands-on position where your attention to detail directly impacts sale-day success, and you'll gain exposure to ADESA's full auction lifecycle.
What You'll Do9
- 1Tag and number vehicles with lot and shop identification, then move them to designated areas using electronic scanning devices.
- 2Verify mileage, year, and VIN on each vehicle, and update records in the PC-based system.
- 3Flag vehicles, add final stickers, mark numbers on windshields, and place them for sale day.
- 4Track missing units and locate vehicles for customers, coordinating with shop and operations teams to maintain inventory flow.
- 5Photograph vehicles as needed and upload images to the inventory system.
- 6Assist with periodic physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
- 7Operate gas dollies, lock out tools, or jump packs to move or start vehicles.
- 8Restock arbitrated units and announce them per auction procedures.
- 9Coordinate a sale lane on sale day, verifying announcements and vehicle reports are accurate.
Requirements9
- 1High School diploma or GED preferred.
- 21+ year in an automotive or auction environment preferred.
- 3Valid driver's license meeting company standards, with the ability to drive various vehicle makes and models.
- 4Proficiency with PCs and inventory scanning systems.
- 5Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds throughout an 8-hour shift.
- 6Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
- 7Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask under time pressure.
- 8Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
- 9Must be 18 years or older and pass a background check.
