Overview
As a Locum Tenens Hospitalist (MD/DO) in Sugar Land, TX, you will own inpatient care for a 24-bed unit, handling admissions, daily rounding, and discharges. You will work nights (5p-5a) in a 7-on/7-off block schedule with no call, closed ICU, and support from specialists and nursing. What You'll Do7
- 1Own admissions, daily rounds, and discharges for adult inpatients, managing acute and chronic conditions.
- 2Coordinate care with specialists, nursing, case management, and ancillary teams to ensure smooth transitions.
- 3Order and interpret diagnostic tests, develop treatment plans, and adjust based on patient response.
- 4Respond rapidly to codes and rapid responses for your own patients, ensuring timely intervention.
- 5Document accurately in Epic within hospital standards to maintain compliance and continuity.
- 6Drive patient outcomes through clear communication with patients, families, and the care team.
- 7Manage 15-20 patients per shift while prioritizing urgent needs and maintaining quality metrics.
Requirements7
- 1MD or DO with board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
- 2Active Texas medical license or ability to obtain before start.
- 3Current DEA registration.
- 42+ years inpatient hospitalist experience, with night shift or locum experience preferred.
- 5Strong clinical decision-making and ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting.
- 6Proficiency with Epic EMR is required.
- 7BLS and ACLS certification required.
