Licensed Hair Stylist / Salon Manager, Color & Cutting
Overview
You will own the full client experience at Merle Norman's Nashville salon, from first consultation to final style. Work alongside a small, established team in a cosmetics studio and salon that has served the area since 2004. You will manage your own chair, drive color and cutting services, and handle daily salon operations including opening, closing, and inventory. This role stands out because you operate as a 1099 independent contractor with commission-based pay plus gratuity, giving you autonomy over your schedule and income while backed by a trusted brand.
What You'll Do8
- 1Deliver haircutting, coloring, highlighting, and styling services that meet client expectations from the first visit.
- 2Build and retain a loyal clientele through consistent technical skill and personalized consultations.
- 3Perform additional services like treatments or specialty styling to expand revenue per appointment.
- 4Maintain salon cleanliness, professional appearance, and Merle Norman brand standards at all times.
- 5Track and manage color and supply inventory, placing orders as needed to avoid stockouts.
- 6Open and close the salon: count down registers, secure the space, and ensure all stations are clean.
- 7Uphold a high standard of client care, greeting each guest warmly and checking in on satisfaction post-service.
- 8Stay current with trends and continued education to keep service offerings fresh.
Requirements8
- 1Active cosmetology license in the state of Tennessee.
- 23-5 years of professional hairstyling experience preferred.
- 3Proficiency in haircutting, coloring, highlighting, and styling techniques.
- 4Experience with retail sales of professional hair products is a plus.
- 5Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule as a 1099 contractor.
- 6Strong communication and client-interaction skills to build lasting relationships.
- 7Reliable transportation to the Nashville salon for all scheduled shifts.
- 8Demonstrated creativity and attention to detail in service execution.
