What You'll Do8

  • 1Greet arriving children, help them remove outerwear, and guide them to activities that match their interests.
  • 2Set clear objectives for each lesson and project, and explain those goals to children in age-appropriate language.
  • 3Prepare materials and set up classroom spaces for daily activities, ensuring safety and readiness.
  • 4Organize and lead development-focused activities with arts and crafts, music, and storytelling that promote motor and cognitive skills.
  • 5Observe and evaluate each child's performance, behavior, and social development to adjust teaching approaches.
  • 6Engage in staff development, parent education, and parent involvement events to strengthen the school community.
  • 7Meet with parents and guardians to discuss progress, needs, and provide strategies for supporting learning at home.
  • 8Enforce center policies and rules consistently while maintaining accurate student records as required by Maryland licensing.

Requirements7

  • 1Associate's degree in early childhood education or a related field.
  • 22-3 years of hands-on experience in a preschool or early learning setting.
  • 3Strong verbal communication to engage children, parents, and team members effectively.
  • 4Active listening skills to understand and respond to children's needs and parent concerns.
  • 5Ability to instruct and guide young learners with patience and clarity.
  • 6Skill in coordinating multiple activities and transitions throughout the day.
  • 7Working knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for preschool children.
