Lead Firearms Instructor Part Time On Call
Overview
Lead Firearms Instructors serve as the first point of contact for Federal Flight Deck Officers at the training venue. They manage check‑in procedures verify credentials and oversee course of fire activities while ensuring safety and maintaining SSI and SPII information. This role requires a 5+ year experience in firearms training and relevant certifications.
What You'll Do11
- 1Conduct classroom instruction delivering approved TSA training and safety briefings
- 2Maintain a 1:6 instructor to student ratio during training sessions
- 3Verify weapons and credentials of each FFDO before training commences
- 4Ensure proper scoring of targets and completion of administrative forms
- 5Collect training data and sign qualification certificates for all FFDOs
- 6Transport unloaded weapons and equipment to designated custody locations when no authorized representative is present
- 7Oversee timekeeping for all SFI labor hours
- 8Provide basic first aid and operate a GFE AED during training activities
- 9Secure Sensitive Security Information and personally identifying information in compliance with TSA policies
- 10Manage monthly requalification sessions and coordinate with FAMS representatives
- 11Maintain positive control of the training environment from student arrival to departure
Requirements5
- 15+ years of firearms training experience or equivalent federal training program completion
- 2Current or former federal law enforcement agent officer or civilian employee who has completed recognized firearms instructor training
- 3Associates degree or equivalent combination of education technical certifications or work/military experience
- 4Successfully complete a 2‑3 day firearms re‑qualification training program
- 5Valid firearms certification from an approved program such as FITP FAMS or FBI/DEA
