What You'll Do10

  • 1Perform high-volume venipuncture for STI testing, RNA confirmatory testing, and research specimens.
  • 2Execute CLIA-waived and moderate complexity tests including rapid HIV, HCV, and syphilis assays.
  • 3Process and prepare specimens for transport to off-site labs, maintaining sample integrity and safety standards.
  • 4Deliver one-on-one risk reduction counseling and disclosure sessions for HIV, HCV, and STIs.
  • 5Build rapport and address barriers to linkage for primary and HIV/HCV-specific care.
  • 6Document client records in CTL and electronic case management systems with accuracy.
  • 7Conduct treatment readiness assessments and provide education to eligible clients.
  • 8Ensure regulatory compliance for research specimen collection, processing, and shipping per GCP.
  • 9Maintain daily logs, temperature checks, and quality controls on all testing supplies and equipment.
  • 10Facilitate street and venue-based testing at mobile sites, SROs, health fairs, and community events.

Requirements12

  • 11-2 years of experience in HIV/HCV/STI prevention education, phlebotomy, or testing, or equivalent combination of education and direct service.
  • 2California State Phlebotomy Technician I (CPT-1) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • 3CA Rapid HIV/HCV Test Counselor certification strongly preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • 4BLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
  • 5Understanding of Harm Reduction as a public health model and social determinants of health.
  • 6Experience with venue-based and street-based testing, including mobile testing, SROs, and health fairs.
  • 7Experience working with people who use drugs (PWUD) and people living with HIV/HCV.
  • 8Knowledge of motivational interviewing techniques and counseling principles.
  • 9Comfort working with potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens, with appropriate PPE.
  • 10Valid California Driver's license in good standing strongly preferred.
  • 11Bilingual in English and Spanish, Cantonese, Russian, or ASL a plus.
  • 12Bachelor's degree in public health, clinical laboratory science, or related field a plus.
