Kafka Administrator, Confluent Kafka & Platform Engineering
Overview
Own the design, deployment, and hardening of a mission-critical Kafka-based data platform at scale. You will operate and secure production clusters, ensuring high availability and low latency for real-time data streams. You will collaborate with platform engineers, data engineers, and SREs to maintain reliability, observability, and performance. This role emphasizes hands-on administration, security, and automation to keep the ecosystem healthy and growing.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and scale production Kafka clusters and related components to meet SLAs
- 2Design and implement secure access, encryption, and compliance controls for real-time streams
- 3Operate and monitor Kafka ecosystem components including Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, Schema Registry, and MirrorMaker
- 4Maintain ZooKeeper or KRaft configurations and perform upgrades with minimal downtime
- 5Debug incidents, implement automation, and improve CI/CD pipelines for Kafka deployments
- 6Collaborate with data engineers to optimize data pipelines and resource usage
- 7Document architecture, runbooks, and disaster recovery procedures
- 8Respond to security incidents and perform hardening and patch management
- 9Lead performance tuning and capacity planning for growing data volumes
- 10Drive reliability improvements through automation and standardization

- 15+ years of hands-on Kafka administration experience, preferably Confluent Kafka
- 2Strong experience managing production Kafka clusters
- 3Advanced knowledge of Kafka ecosystem components: Kafka ConnectKafka StreamsSchema RegistryMirrorMakerZooKeeperKRaft
- 4Strong Linux administration exp
