K9 Handler, Explosive Detection Dog
Overview
You will screen cargo under TSA rules, commanding a trained working dog. Complete a 4-8 week team training course and earn certification before field assignment. Work with a small team, managing daily canine care and record-keeping. This role requires your home to serve as the dog's residence, subject to inspections. You will operate in varied weather and travel as needed.
What You'll Do10
- 1Complete CCSP training to search cargo and identify threats
- 2Conduct X-Ray, physical search, and trace detection as an authorized representative
- 3Command a trained working dog during screening operations
- 4Maintain training records for yourself and the canine
- 5Provide daily care and maintenance for assigned canine, including feeding, exercise, and grooming
- 6Keep the assigned canine's living area clean and climate-controlled at your residence
- 7Maintain all job-related certifications and required security clearances
- 8Operate a company vehicle during on-site training
- 9Work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as per customer schedule
- 10Travel to assigned locations as needed
Requirements10
- 1U.S. Citizenship held for at least three years
- 2One to two years documented experience handling an explosive detection dog in an operational environment
- 3Ability to obtain a Known Traveler Number (KTN) within four to six weeks
- 4Ability to obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge within four to six weeks
- 5Ability to obtain a Security Threat Assessment (STA) for Airport Badge within four to six weeks
- 6Own transportation with operational climate control to transport canine and crate
- 7Pass applicable Contract Testing and Certifications within four to six weeks
- 8Valid driver's license with clean record for three years and REAL ID compliance or valid U.S. passport
- 9Effective oral and written communication skills
- 10Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and stand for long periods in all weather
