K-12 Education Expert | $40-$50/hr Remote
Overview
Mercor is hiring senior K-12 education professionals to build evaluation tasks for AI systems used in large school districts and public education networks. Your work will shape how AI understands the complexity of instructional delivery, stakeholder coordination, and student outcomes. You'll create realistic scenarios, reference answers, and scoring rubrics that capture the judgment of experienced educators and district leaders. The role is fully remote and pays between $40 and $50 per hour.
What You'll Do5
- 1Design K-12 scenarios that span curriculum selection and rollout, multi-party IEP/504 planning, and district-level budget or policy review cycles.
- 2Create education tasks covering instructional design, classroom differentiation, special education, standards alignment, student support, and family/community engagement.
- 3Develop operational scenarios that use tools like PowerSchool, Canvas, Google Classroom, state testing platforms, and district MTSS/RTI systems.
- 4Apply pedagogical frameworks such as Universal Design for Learning, standards-based grading, data-driven instruction, and restorative practices, then produce sample lesson plans, IEP documents, and administrator-facing communications.
- 5Build rubrics that tell apart genuine educator reasoning from generic textbook knowledge or surface-level pedagogy.
Requirements4
- 1At least 5 years of teaching, administering, or leading instruction in a K-12 setting — either in a school, district office, or state education agency.
- 2Direct hands-on experience owning classroom instruction, managing IEP or special education caseloads, leading curriculum programs, or running school/district initiatives.
- 3Solid understanding of K-12 education tools, frameworks, school budgets, state standards compliance, and stakeholder engagement.
- 4Bonus if you've previously written rubrics, curriculum, or teacher-training content.
Who Should Apply
You're a seasoned educator or district leader who can step back and articulate the why behind everyday decisions. You're comfortable turning messy, real-world education situations into structured tasks and clear evaluation criteria. You don't just know the jargon — you've lived the experience of IEP meetings, curriculum adoption, and budget season, and you can explain how the pieces fit together.
