HR Business Partner, 2nd Shift Manufacturing
Overview
You will own HR for XNRGY's second shift manufacturing operations in Mesa, Arizona, building trust with over 200 hourly employees and their leaders through daily floor presence. You report to the VP of HR and partner with operations supervisors, talent acquisition, and site leadership to ensure consistent employee relations, performance management, and compliance coverage outside day shift hours. This role stands apart because it demands real-time problem-solving on the production floor, not from a desk. You will coach frontline leaders on accountability and documentation while scaling HR practices as the facility expands to support AI and data center infrastructure.
What You'll Do8
- 1Serve as the primary HR point of contact for second shift employees, supervisors, and operations leaders, resolving employee relations issues in real time on the floor.
- 2Coach supervisors on performance conversations, attendance issues, corrective action, and documentation, using HRIS and Microsoft Office to track patterns.
- 3Conduct fact-finding investigations into employee concerns, maintaining fair and consistent application of HR policies and employment laws.
- 4Partner with talent acquisition to support staffing, onboarding, and retention for the second shift, leveraging Applicant Tracking Systems to streamline hiring.
- 5Spend 70% of each shift on the manufacturing floor to build trust, observe workflows, and provide immediate HR guidance to employees and leaders.
- 6Drive consistency in policy interpretation across shifts, aligning with day-shift HR counterparts on HRIS data and reporting.
- 7Support workforce planning for second shift, including shift coverage, overtime approvals, and cross-training initiatives.
- 8Facilitate employee engagement activities and communication forums to improve connection to XNRGY's mission and reduce turnover.
Requirements8
- 13-7 years of progressive HR experience in an HR generalist, HR business partner, or employee relations role.
- 2Experience supporting manufacturing, distribution, or logistics environments with hourly workforces is strongly preferred.
- 3Experience supporting second shift, off-shift, or multi-shift operations is highly desirable.
- 4Strong knowledge of employee relations, performance management, policy interpretation, and compliance with federal and state employment laws.
- 5Proven ability to coach frontline supervisors on accountability, communication, and performance expectations.
- 6Comfortable spending meaningful time on the manufacturing floor with PPE knowledge and safety awareness.
- 7Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field is preferred.
- 8HR certification such as SHRM-CP or PHR is considered an asset.
