Housekeeper, Public Areas - Los Angeles Luxury Hotel
Overview
You will own the cleanliness and presentation of all public and employee spaces at The Luxury Collection property in Los Angeles, serving a high-end clientele across 120+ properties worldwide. Join a team of 50+ housekeeping associates and report to the Executive Housekeeper, with daily coordination across Front Desk, Engineering, and Security. This role stands out for its $26.72/hr starting pay, rising to $30.06 after 9 months and $33.40 after 18 months, plus a clear path to Supervisor roles.
What You'll Do10
- 1Clean public and employee restrooms and showers daily, restocking supplies and reporting any maintenance issues to Engineering.
- 2Dust and polish all surfaces in assigned areas, including furniture, fixtures, and glass in lobbies, corridors, and meeting spaces.
- 3Operate floor scrubbers and buffers to maintain tile, marble, and carpet, using designated chemicals and safety gear.
- 4Empty trash containers and ash urns, sorting recyclables and disposing of waste per Marriott standards.
- 5Inspect furniture for tears, rips, and stains, reporting damage via the property management system within the first 90 days.
- 6Post caution signs and reroute foot traffic during wet floor cleaning to prevent slips and falls.
- 7Respond to guest requests within 5 minutes via two-way radio, escalating urgent repairs to Engineering or Front Desk.
- 8Complete safety training on OSHA regulations and chemical handling within your first week, with annual recertification.
- 9Collaborate with the housekeeping team to meet daily occupancy targets, covering breaks and supporting guest room cleaning when needed.
- 10Maintain a professional appearance and follow uniform and grooming standards, while protecting guest confidentiality.
Requirements10
- 1No high school diploma or G.E.D. required, but 6 months in housekeeping or similar role is preferred.
- 2Ability to lift, carry, and place objects up to 55 pounds without assistance, and 55+ with team help.
- 3Comfortable pushing and pulling housekeeping carts and machinery over sloping and uneven surfaces.
- 4Able to reach overhead, bend, twist, and stoop repeatedly to clean under furniture and in tight spaces.
- 5Fine motor skills to grasp and manipulate cleaning tools and spray bottles with accuracy.
- 6Must be able to stand, walk, or kneel for the full 8-hour shift, with breaks scheduled per California labor law.
- 7Willingness to climb ladders up to 6 feet to clean light fixtures and high shelves.
- 8Visual acuity to inspect surfaces for streaks, spots, and damage, using task lighting when needed.
- 9Fluent in English to communicate effectively with guests and team, and to read MSDS labels.
- 10Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and overtime during peak check-in/out times.
