You will own the guest's first impression at Steak 'n Shake, greeting each person who walks through the door and setting the tone for a welcoming visit. You will engage guests in positive, professional conversation while supporting the location's fast and friendly atmosphere. You will be the face of the brand, turning first-time visitors into loyal fans. This role sharpens your people skills in a high-energy environment where hospitality is the product.
What You'll Do8
- 1Greet every guest as they enter, making eye contact and offering a warm welcome within 10 seconds.
- 2Engage guests in friendly conversation, checking satisfaction and anticipating needs like extra napkins or drink refills.
- 3Manage the waitlist and seating flow during peak hours, keeping turnover steady without rushing guests.
- 4Support the front-of-house team by bussing tables and resetting stations between parties.
- 5Handle guest questions and direct them to the right team member for menu or loyalty program details.
- 6Model the Golden Rule in every interaction, from coworkers to first-time visitors.
- 7Maintain a clean and inviting entry area, including menus and condiment stations.
- 8Partner with servers and managers to resolve guest concerns on the spot, turning issues into loyalty wins.
Requirements8
- 16+ months of guest-facing experience in restaurants, retail, or hospitality.
- 2Ability to stand and walk for 8-hour shifts in a fast-paced setting.
- 3High energy and a competitive spirit with a desire to exceed service expectations.
- 4Comfortable using tablets or POS systems for reservations and orders.
- 5Must pass eVerify and provide proof of U.S. work eligibility.
- 6Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
- 7High school diploma or equivalent preferred, not required for standout candidates.
- 8Reliable transportation to the Rosemont location.
