Lead daily operations at VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital, a 42,000-square-foot AAHA-accredited 24-hour emergency, specialty, and general practice. With 39 veterinarians, 6 residents, and 15 interns, you will drive financial performance and team development. Manage a budget of over $10M and oversee 200+ staff. What You'll Do8
- 1Direct and develop veterinary, technical, and administrative staff to ensure quality patient care and excellent client service, formulating objectives and policies for efficient hospital operations.
- 2Oversee the hiring and evaluation of professional staff with Regional Management approval, building a high-performing team.
- 3Review the P&L monthly, partner with the Medical Director to boost revenue and control expenses, and prepare the annual budget, including forecasts and capital expenditures.
- 4Model an owner mentality by assisting all employees, investing time to ensure smooth operations and practice success.
- 5Minimize patient stress and discomfort, recommending referrals to specialists when needed to improve prognosis.
- 6Maintain client and patient medical records, keeping logs up to date through established protocols, and assist colleagues in patient follow-up.
- 7Supervise administration and case review of client medical complaints, ensuring timely resolution.
- 8Drive practice growth by implementing sales and marketing techniques to expand client base and services.
Requirements9
- 15+ years managing a veterinary practice, including financial budget management.
- 2College degree required, MBA preferred.
- 35+ years of veterinary management experience.
- 4CVPM certification a plus or interest in obtaining.
- 5Knowledge of sales and marketing techniques.
- 6Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially with diverse audiences.
- 7Ability to make decisions, delegate responsibility, and achieve results with hospital team members.
- 8Professional comportment, interpersonal skills, and a friendly, positive attitude.
- 9Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
Salary Insight
