Hardware Design Engineer, Optical Transceiver & High-Speed Networking
Overview
5+ years of board-level hardware design experience for high-speed optical transceivers. Own end-to-end hardware development from architecture through release for 1.2T and 1.6T platforms. Collaborate with RF, firmware, mechanical, PCB layout, and manufacturing teams to deliver reliable, high-performance solutions. This role emphasizes rigorous design reviews, validation, and cross-functional teamwork in a hybrid on-site environment.
What You'll Do9
- 1Build electrical architecture and detailed hardware designs for high-speed optical platforms to meet performance and reliability targets
- 2Design and review PADS schematics from scratch and oversee PCB layout to ensure intent is preserved
- 3Develop power distribution and high-performance power supply architectures for board-level designs
- 4Validate signal integrity and power integrity through cross-functional testing and design reviews
- 5Own board-level verification and root-cause analysis across hardware and system levels
- 6Mentor and collaborate with RF, firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing teams throughout the lifecycle
- 7Lead design reviews and present rationale and analysis results to stakeholders
- 8Support simulation and modeling using SPICE and CST to optimize performance
- 9Ensure compliance with customer specifications and contribute to design verification strategies
Requirements10
- 1At least 5 years building board-level hardware for high-speed electronics
- 2Proven experience leading hardware development from architecture through release
- 3Strong digital design with high-speed interfaces and robust analog design
- 4Experience developing schematics using professional EDA tools such as PADS
- 5Experience selecting and evaluating components for high-performance applications
- 6Ability to work closely with PCB layout teams and conduct thorough design reviews
- 7Experience with high-speed power supply design and power distribution architectures
- 8Ability to read complex datasheets and translate into robust designs
- 9Knowledge of RF fundamentals and signal integrity principles
- 10Experience with 1.2T and 1.6T optical networking platforms or similar high-speed systems
Salary Insight
$150 - $230k per year
