Grocery Clerk, Natural Foods & Customer Service
Overview
You will own the grocery floor at Frazier Farms, a natural foods market in San Diego, stocking shelves, rotating product, and greeting every customer with prompt, courteous service. You'll keep displays fully faced and tagged, handle damaged goods, and operate equipment like electric pallet jacks and balers. You'll work with a close-knit team, report to the Department Manager, and follow FDA and QA standards. This role stands out because you'll gain 1-3 years of hands-on retail experience in a growing natural foods chain.
What You'll Do10
- 1Stock and face all shelves, displays, and cases per tag allocation and department standards.
- 2Rotate all merchandise using FIFO to ensure sell-by dates are honored.
- 3Greet every customer and provide prompt, courteous service and assistance.
- 4Maintain Unit Price Labels and perform price changes accurately.
- 5Clean and organize the grocery area, including walk-in and freezer spaces.
- 6Handle damaged or return-to-stock products per company policy, prioritizing refrigerated items.
- 7Operate electric pallet jacks, hand jacks, U-boats, and balers safely.
- 8Record markups, markdowns, and in-store use of merchandise accurately.
- 9Monitor storage areas, making bales, reclaiming plastic, and prepping for the next shift.
- 10Report equipment problems immediately to the Department Manager.
Requirements9
- 11-3 years of retail management experience.
- 2Familiarity with natural foods and alternative diets.
- 3Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to take and give direction.
- 4Outgoing and friendly behavior with a positive attitude toward customers.
- 5Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand/walk 6-8 hours per day.
- 6Comfort with bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching throughout a shift.
- 7Willingness to work in wet and cold environments, including walk-ins.
- 8Ability to use tools and equipment like box cutters and electric pallet jacks.
- 9Availability for days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
