What You'll Do8

  • 1Design and deliver Sheltered Instruction lessons that blend grade-level content with language development for multilingual learners.
  • 2Assess student proficiency using WIDA and other tools, then interpret data to shape daily instructional choices.
  • 3Build a welcoming classroom culture that honors students' diverse backgrounds and promotes academic risk-taking.
  • 4Collaborate weekly with the assigned English language acquisition coach to refine teaching strategies and materials.
  • 5Track student progress toward CCSS standards, adjusting pacing and scaffolding to meet individual needs.
  • 6Communicate regularly with families about student growth and classroom activities, using clear and respectful language.
  • 7Participate in school-wide professional development sessions focused on multilingual education and equity.
  • 8Maintain organized records of lesson plans, assessments, and student work to meet district deadlines.

Requirements8

  • 1Massachusetts Teaching License in Elementary Education (Grades 1-6) or SEI Endorsement
  • 21+ year teaching experience in an elementary classroom, preferably with multilingual learners
  • 3Demonstrated cultural competence and skill in working with students from diverse backgrounds
  • 4Strong communication skills with students, colleagues, and parents
  • 5Ability to collect, interpret, and act on data for instructional purposes
  • 6Familiarity with WIDA and CCSS standards
