Fraud Analyst – Content & Reviews Abuse | $15-$25/hr Remote
Overview
This role is about protecting a busy consumer platform from fraud and abuse aimed at its content and reviews. You'll dig into messy, ever-changing abuse patterns, partner with product and engineering teams, and use investigative thinking plus data tools to find root causes. Expect to work end-to-end on ambiguous cases using SQL and Python, and to turn your findings into clear, evidence-backed conclusions. The position is full-time and onsite in Hyderabad, requiring availability during India Standard Time hours.
What You'll Do5
- 1Investigate complex fraud and abuse cases from start to finish, synthesizing data into conclusions that keep user trust front and center.
- 2Combine signals from multiple data sources to trace deceptive behavior, and help design experiments to catch new abuse patterns.
- 3Write clear, evidence-backed case narratives and detailed observation notes that others can use to make decisions.
- 4Build specialized expertise in the evolving forms of platform abuse and share insights with product, engineering, and operations stakeholders.
- 5Present analytical findings to senior stakeholders in plain language, translating dense policy concepts into accessible terms.
Requirements8
- 14+ years of hands-on experience analyzing data, spotting trends, and turning raw numbers into actionable decisions.
- 24+ years working end-to-end on ambiguous, open-ended analytical projects.
- 3Strong working knowledge of SQL and Python for analysis, plus sharp problem-solving instincts.
- 4Prior experience working on a Mercor project is mandatory.
- 5A bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 6Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to present findings to senior stakeholders.
- 7Ability to produce thorough case write-ups and detailed observation notes.
- 8Must work full-time onsite in Hyderabad and be available during India Standard Time hours, with access to a private, secure workspace.
Who Should Apply
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented investigator who enjoys solving puzzles where the answer isn't obvious. You likely come from fraud detection, insurance fraud, forensic accounting, or financial crimes, and you're comfortable digging through data with SQL and Python. You're someone who can communicate complex findings clearly, adapt to new abuse patterns, and take ownership of ambiguous cases. If you have experience with content moderation, policy design, or AI/ML concepts, that's a plus — but what matters most is your ability to think critically and follow the evidence.
