Forward Deployed Engineering Lead, AI Healthcare
Overview
You will lead AI deployments at Luminai, embedding directly with healthcare customers to design and ship Python-based automation that replaces manual workflows. You will drive end-to-end ownership across AWS infrastructure, API integrations, and production monitoring, while raising the technical bar for a growing FDE team. Partnering with Product and Engineering, you will turn field insights into roadmap decisions. Backed by $60M in funding, this role offers the autonomy to shape healthcare AI at scale.
What You'll Do8
- 1Embed with customers to map their workflows, constraints, and success metrics, then architect AI-driven solutions that solve real operational pain.
- 2Design and build production-grade systems using Python, FastAPI, and Docker, deployed on AWS with CI/CD pipelines.
- 3Own deployments from initial scoping to launch, including API integration, monitoring, and feedback loops to ensure reliability.
- 4Translate ambiguous business requirements into technical architectures, selecting the right LLM or vector database for each use case.
- 5Drive cross-functional collaboration with Product and Engineering to influence roadmap, abstractions, and long-term system design.
- 6Identify patterns across customer deployments and feed insights back into core product development to improve scalability.
- 7Set technical direction for the FDE team, establishing best practices for code quality, architecture decisions, and deployment rigor.
- 8Mentor other FDEs, providing guidance on complex technical and customer tradeoffs while unblocking their progress.
Requirements7
- 15+ years of software engineering experience, with a focus on backend or systems engineering.
- 2Strong proficiency in Python; TypeScript or JavaScript experience is a plus.
- 3Experience with cloud infrastructure on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- 4Proven ability to translate ambiguous requirements into production-ready systems.
- 5Excellent communication skills, comfortable presenting to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- 6High ownership mindset, operating independently in fast-changing environments.
- 7Experience with AI systems (LLMs, vector databases, prompt engineering, or agent frameworks) is a strong plus.
