Food Service Worker, Health Care Dining & Patient Support
Overview
Join Banner Health as a Food Service Worker supporting patient trays, nourishment preparation, and café operations in a health system setting. You will work as part of the food service team across assignments such as patient trayline, food prep, and retail dining. This role focuses on food safety, quality, and responsive patient service, with schedules that include weekend shifts and variable daytime to overnight hours.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and set up work stations for assigned foods following portion control and quality standards
- 2Cleans and sanitizes dishes, utensils, and kitchen areas ensuring sanitation standards
- 3Maintains par levels and restocks items, rotates stocks and checks expiration dates
- 4Checks and records food and equipment temperatures and reports discrepancies
- 5Delivers meals and nourishments to units and assists in catering or special events
- 6Handles cash register transactions where applicable and serves customers in cafe or retail settings
- 7Provides customer service to patients, staff, and families while following dietary policies
- 8Monitors food presentation and quality to meet established standards
- 9Maintains safety and sanitation when handling cleaning chemicals
- 10Supports the team with recommended tasks and workflows during shifts
Requirements10
- 1Must be able to learn and follow established policies and procedures
- 2Ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively
- 3Pass certification tests for food handling as required
- 4Food handlers card required for Banner Staffing Services team members within 30 days of hire
- 5Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card required for positions in certain facilities
- 6Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed at hire
- 7General ability to work as part of a team and follow safety guidelines
- 8Willingness to work weekends and varied shifts
- 9Experience in food service or healthcare food service is a plus
- 10Cash handling experience may be required where applicable
