You will assist foremen and journeymen installing, modifying, and repairing fire sprinkler systems on commercial and residential projects across Houston. What You'll Do9
- 1Install and repair fire sprinkler systems using steel and CPVC piping, following shop drawings and NFPA codes.
- 2Assist foremen with fire pump and standpipe installations, ensuring compliance with local codes.
- 3Fabricate small components on site, cutting and threading pipe as needed.
- 4Interpret shop drawings and report any field deviations to the foreman.
- 5Perform all delegated tasks to meet project deadlines and scheduling requirements.
- 6Maintain a clean and safe job site, adhering to OSHA regulations and Ironsmith Fire safety protocols.
- 7Support the underground/site division when necessary, assisting with site work.
- 8Participate in rotating on-call shifts for emergency service calls.
- 9Complete online or after-hours training to master basic fire sprinkler concepts and tools.
Requirements9
- 11+ year of construction or mechanical experience preferred, but not required.
- 2Willingness to learn NFPA standards, building codes, and local ordinances.
- 3Ability to read blueprints and fire sprinkler shop drawings.
- 4Reliable transportation to arrive on time at designated job sites.
- 5Willingness to travel overnight to job sites as needed.
- 6High attention to detail and documentation precision.
- 7Proven problem-solving skills and a can-do attitude.
- 8Basic mechanical knowledge and tool familiarity.
- 9High school diploma or equivalent.
