Field Service Engineer, Flow Meter Systems
Overview
You will install, maintain, calibrate, and service flow meters across Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio, working in water and wastewater systems. You will pair with a senior technician to troubleshoot and configure equipment using computer software and ensure accurate data collection for municipalities and industrial clients. This role blends mechanical and electrical work, with travel up to 25% and 1-2 overnight stays weekly. You will own the full lifecycle of flow meter systems, from manhole installation to performance verification, with direct mentorship and growth potential.
What You'll Do10
- 1Travel regionally to install, maintain, calibrate, and service flow meters in water and wastewater systems.
- 2Install flow meters inside manholes, connecting and configuring them using computer software.
- 3Troubleshoot and calibrate flow meter equipment using diagnostic tools and verify proper operation.
- 4Collect and verify flow data to ensure accurate measurement of pipe and stream flow.
- 5Document performance data for municipalities and industrial customers, ensuring reliable records.
- 6Apply mechanical and electrical expertise to safely configure and maintain measurement equipment.
- 7Collaborate daily with a senior engineer, coordinating tasks and communicating effectively on-site.
- 8Follow safety protocols while working in confined spaces, adverse weather, and around wastewater.
- 9Drive several hours to client sites, staying until job completion before returning home.
- 10Master new flow meter technologies and diagnostic software tools for efficient field service.
Requirements10
- 1Willingness to travel 25%, including 1-2 overnight stays per week.
- 2Hands-on mechanical experience from school, internships, or prior roles.
- 3Practical electrical experience with components or systems.
- 4Comfort working indoors and outdoors, including in rain, snow, and dirty environments.
- 5Ability to work inside manholes and similar infrastructure.
- 6Valid driver's license and ability to travel within a 3-hour radius of central office.
- 7Strong communication and teamwork skills with senior staff.
- 8Reliability to complete jobs even with extended driving and fieldwork.
- 9Flow meter installation or calibration experience (preferred).
- 10Background in environmental, mechanical, or electrical disciplines (preferred).
