Field Operations Specialist - Remote Deployments
Overview
Own the end-to-end execution of cloud seeding missions in remote mountain environments, deploying UAS and seeding systems to convert supercooled clouds into snowpack. You lead a small team through extreme conditions, coordinating with meteorologists and logistics to deliver millions of gallons of water per mission. This contract role (through April 2027) demands precision under pressure, with every shift shaping drought relief.
What You'll Do9
- 1Drive pre-mission reconnaissance with meteorologists to identify optimal seeding windows and target sites within the mountain range of operations.
- 2Load and configure the Agile Deployment Vehicle with UAS, generators, laptops, and Starlink terminals, ensuring all equipment is mission-ready.
- 3Execute pre-flight checks and launch procedures for UAS in sub-zero temperatures, following FAA Part 107 regulations.
- 4Operate seeding systems to release particles into supercooled clouds at 10,000 feet, maximizing precipitation yield.
- 5Monitor live telemetry and adjust mission parameters in real time to maintain safety and effectiveness.
- 6Troubleshoot and repair UAS and ground equipment on-site using mechanical and technical expertise.
- 7Document mission data and maintain inventory of seeding agents and spare parts after each deployment.
- 8Coordinate with remote team members and stakeholders via Starlink to report outcomes and adjust strategies.
- 9Travel to remote or international locations as needed, often with short notice, to support expanded operations.
Requirements9
- 12+ years in field operations, aviation, military, emergency management, or construction environments.
- 2A valid FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate and experience operating or supporting UAS.
- 3Ability to work in remote, physically demanding, and weather-exposed environments with minimal supervision.
- 4Strong attention to detail and discipline in following standard operating procedures.
- 5Mechanical or technical aptitude, including equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- 6Comfort with frequent travel, including to remote or international locations.
- 7Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- 8Preferred: experience with logistics, inventory, or supply management.
- 9Preferred: familiarity with GIS tools and spatial data such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or Google Earth.
