Field Installation Technician - Overhead Crane Systems
Overview
You own the on-site assembly and wiring of heavy-duty overhead cranes for industrial clients across the country. Working from blueprints, you align mechanical parts, wire control panels, and troubleshoot drives. You join a tight-knit team in Rochester Hills that values craftsmanship and treats you with respect. Payload up to 50 tons, CMAA standards, and NEC electrical codes guide your work. This role lets you see a project from drawings to a working machine, with your expertise recognized on every job site.
What You'll Do6
- 1Assemble and wire overhead crane systems at customer sites, following blueprints and safety standards.
- 2Align and secure all mechanical components, verifying tolerances per engineering specs.
- 3Test and troubleshoot electrical control panels and motor drives to confirm safe operation.
- 4Explain system functions and safety protocols to clients on-site.
- 5Complete project documentation and maintain an organized inventory of tools and parts.
- 6Report field feedback to the home office to refine future crane designs.
Requirements7
- 1High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- 2Technical certification or vocational training in electrical or mechanical systems.
- 32+ years in crane, hoist, or heavy equipment manufacturing experience.
- 4Valid driver's license with a clean record.
- 5Proficiency reading complex technical blueprints and electrical schematics.
- 6Ability to operate hand and power tools safely.
- 7Comfort working at heights and in industrial site conditions.
