Overview

Fabricator and fitter needed to build and assemble structural steel components in a busy job shop. You will interpret blueprints, BOMs, and orders to plan layout, cutting, drilling, and welding prep for assemblies. You will collaborate with welders and other fabricating operators in a dynamic team on first shift.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Build and lay out structural steel components from blueprints and BOMs to meet project specifications
  • 2Read drawings to create accurate cut lists and determine lengths, widths, and angles
  • 3Mark holes and prepare parts for punching or drilling according to fabrication standards
  • 4Fit and tack weldments to ensure proper alignment before final welding
  • 5Prepare parts for assembly by cleaning, aligning, and organizing components
  • 6Coordinate with welders, press brake, shear and punch press operators to complete jobs efficiently
  • 7Maintain a safe, organized work area and comply with shop safety procedures
  • 8Review job orders to gather required parts and materials for each project
  • 9Support production goals by meeting deadlines and adapting to changing priorities
  • 10Work on varied custom projects in a hands on production environment

Requirements10

  • 1Hands on fabricating and fitting experience with structural steel components
  • 2Strong layout skills with ability to mark and measure from blueprints and BOMs
  • 3Ability to read and interpret blueprints and BOMs in fabrication settings
  • 4Previous job shop manufacturing experience on varied projects
  • 5MIG welding experience with ability to tack and assemble weldments safely and accurately
  • 6Experience with flux core and dual shield welding processes
  • 7Press brake operation experience in metal fabrication
  • 8Shearing experience including setup and operation of steel shears
  • 9Punch press experience for punching holes and forming operations
  • 10Any welding certifications, apprenticeships, or formal education in fabrication or related fields are a plus
